The Beginning: Phonics

We use an approach to reading instruction known as the Spalding method, a multi-sensory approach.

After your child has studied with us for awhile, you will notice improvement in reading, spelling, and writing.

Our phonics class can benefit anyone who has a problem with word attack, but any child reading on 3rd grade level or higher can also move on to Reading Plus.

Moving Ahead: Fluency and Comprehension

Reading Plus is a computer program which results in greater reading efficiency. First, using the Visagraph, we test students to determine how efficiently their eyes move across the page. Then the results are graphed, a reading level is determined, and a program is tailored to meet each student’s needs. Any reader can benefit from Reading Plus.

Math

Kudos to our friends from the Far Eastern countries. Did you ever notice how proficient those trained in math in Japan, Korea, etc. seem to be? Much of that proficiency is because a strong foundation is laid from the beginning. When the basic skills, i.e. the multiplication facts, are in place, it is far easier to understand math at higher levels. MASTERY LEARNING IS OUR GOAL AT EVERY LEVEL. Only then will your child say with confidence: "I can do this!"
